If social media company pages are managed correctly, your entire network will know you have an open position, and can either apply themselves or refer a qualified person to you.

Another way hiring time is decreased is the amount of information candidates share on their profiles. In the 'old days' hiring managers' main information source was the resume. By using social media, companies are privy to extensive information up front, and can begin the decision making process earlier.
